Mama Meditation Circle for the Winter Solstice

  • Tosa PT & Wellness 9126 W North Ave Wauwatosa, WI, 53226 United States (map)

This is a special end of year Winter Solstice celebration.
Whether you’re a newbie, regular, or its been awhile since you’ve been to a Mama Meditation Circle — you’re all welcome! Think of this like a holiday party with meditation. There will be snacks and treats, our usual group kundalini meditation experience with oracle card reading, but a few extra surprises for the season and to honor the Solstice. Bring all your magic - crystals, cards, offerings to contribute to a community altar. No pressure if you don’t have time or don’t remember — it’s there if you want to contribute. Note: We’ll begin class a little earlier than normal at 7pm.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Elizabeth Bogart has been leading Mama Meditation Circles for over a year at Tosa PT & Wellness and it’s one of the highlights of her week. She is a Kundalini Yoga & Meditation teacher, Reiki Practitioner, and self-proclaimed Astrology nerd. Her regulars know that she typically chats about astrological weather of the moment and often weaves in other topics like numerology, positive psychology, Ayurvedic seasonal self-care practices into class as is relevant. Elizabeth started paying more attention to the cycles of the moon and honoring the seasonal shifts (Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Fall Equinox, Winter Solstice) when she moved to Chicago (about 10 years ago) and started noticing a shift in her internal world. Something about tracking the phase of the moon felt familiar. Something honoring the change in season just made sense — and felt good. She loves holding space for women to gather, slow down, recharge, and make the ordinary moments a little more special and sacred. IG @eb_heartwork

MORE ABOUT KUNDALINI YOGA

Kundalini Yoga is known as the Yoga of Experience (you really have to try it to understand it). This practice includes a series of movement (called a kriya), deep relaxation, and group meditation (often included mantra, mudra, chanting, & singing). Each kriya works like a recipe and has a different physical and energtic effect on the body. Each meditation typically includes breathwork, mantra (a mental or out loud chant), mudra (hand posture), and eye gaze. The chanting is the best bit of this practice. No one else in the world has the same vibrational frequency as your voice. Your body responses to your particular voice in a very unique way. Again, it’s best understood by doing it. So, come try!

This is space for mothers to be mothered. Each month there is a different theme, but class is always adapted based on the needs of the mamas who show up to the circle. The goal is always for this to feel like an energetic reset to shake off the stress of the week and set ourselves up so we can show up for ourselves and the people in your life with more grace, compassionate, and love. Each class is designed to give you time for your nervous system to chill, regulate, and reset so you can go back into the world feeling like your cup is full and you have an increased capacity for the curveballs of life.
