Gemini New Moon Meditation Circle
Date: Monday, June 15th
Time: 6-8pm, +Optional Tea-Time
Location: Moving Galaxy, 2408 N Farwell Ave
Join Elizabeth Bogart at Moving Galaxy for a New Moon Meditation Circle.
This is a monthly meditation ceremony honoring the energy of the New Moon and setting intentions for the month ahead. We'll begin each session breaking down the "astrological weather" of the moment. This class includes breathwork, somatic movement, kundalini meditation, journaling, and a juicy relaxation with reiki. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring crystals or any other items to add to the community altar. There will be optional communi-tea time at the end of each session for those who want to pull tarot/oracle cards.
GEMINI SEASON (JUNE’S GATHERING)
In honor of this month’s theme (Nature and the Elements), each weekly Kundalini Yoga class will feature a kriya aligned to a different element. To kick-start the month, we’ll begin with our Gemini New Moon Circle honoring the elements of AIR/ETHER. During our New Moon Celebration, we’ll chat about Gemini energy and what’s so magical and maddening about all these ideas swirling in the ether — and how mantra/singing/chanting can filter your ideas into action. Invite your chattiest friends and most creative pals!
THIS MONTH (At A Glance)
Monday, June 15th - New Moon Circle - AIR/ETHER
Tuesday, June 16th - EARTH
Tuesday, June 23rd - FIRE
Tuesday, June 30th - WATER
Each class will feature a different kriya, meditation, and oracle deck aligned to the “Elemental” theme. Come ready to contribute what you know about the different elements. Ayurvedic Medicine is the sister science of yoga and often includes “elemental” language to describe food, moods, and dispositions. Astrological signs are divided into “Elemental” families. We’ve been using the qualities of Nature to build understanding about our own internal worlds for a very long time as a species. It’s playful, it’s intuitive. It just makes sense. Come play with us!
MORE ABOUT THE PRACTICE
Kundalini Yoga, known as the "Yoga of Experience,” is a unique combination of movement (called a kriya), breathing techniques (pranayama), mantra (chanting), and meditation with mudra (hand postures). Each kriya works like a recipe and has a specific effect on the body - physically and energetically. The system of pressure and release supports the nervous system to reset, regulate, and balance the glandular system. Elizabeth has been teaching/practicing this style of yoga for over 15 years and affectionately describes this practice as "putting yourself in the washing machine" in a good way. Ideal for folks recovering from burnout, processing grief, deepening their intuition, or simply wanting to feel more expansive, capable, & alive! It's best understood by experiencing it, so come try it.
