Illustrate Your Birth Chart with Aly Miller & Elizabeth Bogart

  • Persika Design Co Studio 1911 South Allis Street Milwaukee, WI, 53207 United States (map)

Join Aly Miller and Elizabeth Bogart at Polish Flat in Bayview for an Art & Astrology Workshop. Both Aly and Elizabeth are lovers of astrology and hands-on learners. They both value the process of engaging with big ideas in a tactile way and believe drawing, doodling, and sketching builds understanding. What better subject to dive into than better understanding yourself! Your Natal Chart can give you a glimpse of how you're meant to shine (sun sign), what environment/conditions make you feel safe (moon sign), and themes to prioritize throughout the year (rising).

Come settle in for a cozy afternoon of creating. Aly will walk us through a few initial illustration ideas and share some samples & design elements to get us started. Elizabeth will be available for mini-deep dives of your chart to help you build meaning if this world is new to you or you want a second set of eyes on your chart. The wonderful Christina will be hosting us in her studio and give us access to select art supplies (including collage materials). You're welcome to browse and shop her work before/after the workshop.

NOTE: There will be a select number of tickets reserved for returning participants. Decoding your birth chart and uncovering its meaning is (literally) a lifelong journey. There’s always more things to discover and more ways to make your revelations relevant and applicable to your current stage in life. Returning participants will get access to discount code, e-mail Elizabeth at eb.heartwork@gmail.com if you’re interested.

ABOUT YOUR FACILITATORS

Aly Miller is an illustrator and astrology nerd based in Bayview, Milwaukee. She became interested in birth chart illustration after a flash of insight during a coffee chat with Elizabeth. Aly seeks to answer the question: “Why do traditional birth charts have to be so cryptic, complicated, sterile, confusing, and/or inaccessible?” Let’s make them beautiful, colorful, vibrant, inspiring — and extra personal so it’s a work of art that speaks to who you are in a way that makes sense to your brain. One of Aly’s gifts is the ability to break things down in a methodical way while making them whimsical and charming. Stay connected via IG @aly_illustrations

Elizabeth Bogart is an astrology nerd and kundalini yoga teacher. She kept bumping into Aly at the same artist events (Draw! Dandy & Creative Mornings) and local coffee shops (Likewise Coffee). They soon discovered they both value creating the right conditions to feel cozy and creative, are avid students of astrology, and share a love for tarot/oracle cards. Elizabeth weaves astrology into nearly every seasonal offering. She loves how astrology gives you a shared vocabulary to understand yourself, others, and advocate for your needs when necessary. She finds it such a meaningful practice to read birth charts together in community because your personal associations with astrological themes (symbols, imagery, lived experience) often unlocks something meaningful for another. Persika Studio and Gallery is located in the Meltwater Studio space in Bay View, Milwaukee. The address is 1911 S Allis St but your GPS/phone Maps directions will not take you all the way there so it’s important you follow my directions for getting to the correct part of the building.

Your GPS will take you past (the old) Enlightened Brewing and stop at a big cream building on the cross-streets of Allis and Stewart. You’re going to take a right (going East) on E Stewart St and then take a left on S Marina Dr. (When you see the sign for Spectre Vintage, go left.)

When you’ve crossed the train tracks going north you will see a big brick warehouse on your left with a big parking lot and loading docks and two gates. Go to the second gate - the most Northern gate. Enter the code 1982# if the gate is closed.

You’re going to park to the right of the quilt mural in and enter through the dark green door to the right of the parking area. I will put a piece of paper on the door that says “Persika Design Co.” If you’ve reached Barnacle Bud’s you’ve gone too far and you’re on the wrong side of the building. If the door is locked, please text Christina at (920) 287-1998 when you’ve arrived so I can come and let you in. If it’s not locked, you can follow the signs up to the second floor to find my studio. The studio has a Snoopy doormat and we’ll have the door open until workshops have begun.

We encourage you to arrive 10-15 minutes early to look around the studio, have drinks/snacks, and get settled in.
