Book An Online Baby Blessing
This month we celebrate all kinds of mamas in our lives and that includes you, mamas-to-be! You are already making decisions for two, so dip into some self-care and celebration this month. As we continue to shelter-in-place, here’s a way to celebrate with your tribe.
Book an online Baby Blessing as an on-add to a virtual baby shower or stand alone event. Elizabeth sets up a Zoom Meeting and Calendar Invite for 30-60min blessing (whatever you prefer) and facilitates the ceremony. You can choose to forward to your guest list or have Elizabeth circulate to your chosen tribe.
WHAT’S A BABY BLESSING?
A Baby Blessing is different than a Baby Shower. Instead of showering you with gifts from a registry, guests shower the babe and growing family with blessings and love through sacred songs and chants. There is an element of sharing of what you hope for and promise this babe and this family.
For example …
My wish for this baby is freedom of expression to find their authentic voice. My promise to this babe is friendship, love, and funny birthday cards.
My wish for this mama is deep trust in her intuition. My promise to this mama is to have a listening ear for the joys and challenges of this journey.
My wish for this family is laughter while you learn. My promise to this family is love, Face-time chats, and free baby-sitting.
WHERE DOES THIS TRADITION COME FROM?
In the Khalsa Way Prenatal Yoga tradition and many others, it is believed that the baby’s soul enters on the 120th Day of Pregnancy. You wouldn’t move into a house that’s not built yet. It’s kind of the same idea. Regardless if this concept resonates, there is a special tradition to celebrate the babe, mama, and growing family on mama’s 120th Day. During this celebration, the couple and family gather a select group of people whose energy they cherish and trust. The chosen tribe gathers around the couple to participate in sacred song, chants, and sharing their wishes and blessings for this family.
If gifts are brought, they are for the mama - items of self-care for her pregnancy (candles, bubble bath, oil, crystals), love tokens (flowers, chocolates, jewelry), or items to support her during labor (cards with quotes or words of encouragement, favorite music list, tea etc). Items need not be new or costly. Most people bring handmade items ($5-$10).
While it’s special when the celebration lines up to be at or around the 120th Day, this Baby Blessing can happen at any time during the pregnancy.
Given the virtual nature of the event, we’ll arrange for some meaningful surprises for the mama for the day-of online Zoom call. Please indicate if you are purchasing this as a gift within the notes of the order form. Additional sliding scale option available upon request $55-$75
